This blog celebrates social
enterprise in Africa and by the African diaspora. It looks at 'Enterprise'
from a sustainability perspective and celebrates good practice, success
stories and also gives a critical and objective angle to the policy and
practice of economic and social development; specifically in the area of enterprise and its correlation with sustainable livelihoods.
It is the hope that this blog will....
- Be an informative resource to development
practitioners and to people concerned in seeing a better world.
- Inspire people to think of sustainable
practices that leave communities better as opposed to leaving them more
impoverished and in a cycle of dependency.
- Portray people, entrepreneurs and communities
in the developing south as a people capable of bringing lasting change
given the right tools, environment and respected as key stakeholders and
partners of development
- Be a pathway to connect with professionals and
entrepreneurs and learn from each other so as to become the change that we
want to see happen in Africa;
Who is taking care of
this blog.....
My name is Jacquie Thuku, a graduate of International Development with a keen interest in
corporate sustainability and social entrepreneurship. I chronicle
stories of successful African owned enterprises and the entrepreneurs behind
them. I am
always excited to see the innovation, creativity and determination displayed by
entrepreneurs who have gone on to make a positive difference in their
communities against all odds.
''Inspired
individuals inspire hope in others, and celebrate the hope they see taking
place'' JT
